Hoonah Bike Trek & ZipRider

The ship anchored offshore and we were tendered in on lifeboats. Hoonah Alaska is a small town of about 750 people. It sprinkled off and on during the morning. One thing you learn quickly on an Alaskan cruise is that it is going to rain and it is going to be cold.

Our first excursion of the day was an eight mile bike ride. We stopped near the area fishermen bring their fish to sell. The bald eagles hang out waiting for an easy meal. There were dozens of eagles on the ground and flying overhead.

The highlight of the day was the over one mile long, 60 mile per hour, 1300 foot vertical drop zip line. And yes, Gary did it. Take a good look at his Alaska stocking cap in the picture below because it is the last we saw of it. As soon as the gates opened his hat was gone. The ride was exhilarating to say the least and we both loved it. It was a 40 minute bus ride to the top and a 90 second ride down. We spotted a brown bear on the bus ride up.

In the evening we watched a ventriloquist perform. He had us laughing the whole time.
