Tuesday 4.21.20

reading:

  • practice your sight words or fluency

  • adjectives can describe how something looks, smells, feels, sounds, or tastes. Watch this video about adjectives.

  • practice -IGH words and/or watch the video with Geraldine the Giraffe

  • Journeys Reader's Notebook pages 184-186 (links at bottom of page)

  • read "Frog and Toad: the Kite" or another story

  • Retell the beginning, middle, and end in order with as many events as you can remember. Include as many parts of the story structure as you can (characters, setting, events, etc.). You can do this on Seesaw or to your parent or another person in your house.

math: Origo lesson 11.5

writing: Look at your circle map and sketch from yesterday. Think about the story you drew. Tell the story again to someone at your house. (Your dog counts!) Then start to write the sentences you say down on paper.

Wednesday 4.22.20

reading:

  • practice your sight words or spelling (idea: use a paintbrush and write your word in water on the sidewalk or driveway)

  • think about what story structure is while watching this video and while you read Frog and Toad. [Frog and Toad on YouTube]

  • practice blending words (using this powerpoint or your spelling words)

  • Journeys Reader's Notebook pages 187-189 (links at bottom of page)

  • read "Frog and Toad: The Kite" or another story about weather. You could also use the Sora app or another book site to have your child read this text.

math: Origo lesson 11.6

writing: Read the story you wrote yesterday. Add adjectives (colors, smells, sounds, number words, etc.) and transition words like "first, next, after dark, then."

Thursday 4.23.20

reading:

  • Journeys Reader's Notebook pages 190-192 (links at bottom of page)

  • read and practice your expression and rate and/or practice your sight words

math: Origo lesson 11.7

writing: Edit your personal narrative by checking for capital letters at the beginning of your sentence, periods at the ends of sentences, and any spelling changes you need to make so that you and others can read your work.

Friday 4.24.20

  • practice your sight words (and for Room 7 kids: do the week 28 Seesaw activity to show me what you learned)

  • Journeys Reader's Notebook pages 194-196 (links at bottom of page)

  • read out loud to someone or record yourself reading in Seesaw

math: Origo lesson 11.8

writing: Publish your personal narrative by drawing a picture that matches your words. Then type or write it in your best handwriting. When you're done, take a picture and add it to your Seesaw or email it to your teacher.
