In 1994-95, Fixed Deposit (FD) rates were roughly around 12-14% and the inflation was around 10%.
This meant that if you invested 100Rs in FD, it would become 102Rs next year (in real terms).
But since then, there has been a general decline in FD rates.
Now in 2022, the FD rates are 5.5-6% and inflation is touching 8%.
This means that if you invest 100 Rs in FD, it will become 98 Rs next year.
Inflationary politics has resulted in inflationary economics.
And, we have reached a point: where people will not fight to "grow" their money, they will fight to "preserve" what they have.
