About the role:
The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for the careful handling of complaints and queries surrounding vulnerable adults or children
They will directly receive complaints or concerns surrounding any breaches to behavioral policies, and where members may feel unsafe or victimised in any particular way.
They will advise that complaints are sent in written format to the safeguarding mailbox.
They will follow the group’s code of conduct and misconduct procedures in dealing with requests or internal investigations. E.g. advising a member that they need to garner the relevant consent/permissions required to share photos externally or collecting feedback for the purposes of an investigation by the dispute resolutions chair.
Where complaints have been received, they must report these to the executive committee.
The exec committee may decide to refer the issue to the Dispute Resolution Chair, who will advise the safeguarding officers with formulating a response or to outline that an investigation should be initiated.
If the Equality Officer happens to be unavailable, the Safeguarding Officers will by default take on the responsibility of processing support letter requests.
They will also undertake any training required to advance their knowledge to perform this role.
