The External Liaison Officer (Partnerships) is responsible for communicating with our external partners and developing a close and effective ongoing relationship that benefits the group.
What is a partner? A partner would be a group, network, business or charity whom our group must interact and remain associated with for a considerable period of time for a defined purpose. If the partnership is deemed to be successful the external party may eventually be listed on the partnership section of our website.
About the role:
Advise the executive committee of groups, networks, charities and businesses that we can benefit by building a closer connections with.
Communicate regularly and effectively with our current external partners in order to maintain a successful ongoing relationship with them.
Schedule meetings/activities and maintain a calendar/diary to organise interactions with these third parties.
Report back any findings and provide regular updates to the executive committee.
Raise any decisions that need to be made to the executive committee as appropriate and/or seek the necessary approvals as required.
Work together with the relevant exec committee members to draw up a mission plan/strategy laying out the objectives for the partnership and/or the specific project we intend to undertake with the external partner/s. E.g. If we are arranging a joint fundraising activity or joint grant application with the third party you would request the help of our Fundraising Officer.
Remain aware of our group’s primary purpose as a non-political social group providing social activities, whilst also taking into account the more intricate needs of our subgroups. This will ensure that well-balanced and purposeful communications are made with our external partners.
Investigate ways in which our subgroups 'LGBT+ PLUS Spectrum' and 'LGBT+ PLUS Active' can benefit and thrive from these partnerships.
You will monitor and observe that other members who are appointed to represent our group with these third parties E.g. RESPECT Network attend meetings as required of them.
Liaise with our reps to help them to report back information to the executive committee in the way that is required of them.
You will also observe our reps to ensure they are representing the group to a satisfactory standard and maintaining the public reputation of our group. You will raise any issues observed to the executive committee and they will advise you according to the current circumstances.
