Notes: "The MaxxPro MRAP is built to withstand ballistic arms fire, mine blasts, IEDs, and other emerging threats. Its V-shaped hull helps deflect blasts out and away from the crew. Currently the only bullet resistant vehicle available to Kitsap County Sheriff's Office to assist in High-Risk deployment and rescue missions. Acquired by KCSO October 2016 from United States Army as part of a loan program to assist domestic law enforcement with surplus military gear. Upon receipt of MRAP, KCSO painted and equipped vehicle with radios, lighting, interior seating, and other items to make it more functional for our missions. In five years of service, it has assisted KCSO in over 50 successful high-risk missions while protecting the occupants from firearms threats. It is often used as a platform to insert Crisis Negotiatiors in close proximity to threatening person allowing for direct communication. This tactic has most often led to peaceful surrenders with the least amount of threat exposure to both the persons in crisis, bystanders, neighbors, and first responders."
