I confronted my lifelong fear of insects during a module I undertook in my first year at NUS, which became a pivotal experience in shaping my present and ever-growing enthusiasm for invertebrates and environmental biology. My desire to drive change and leave an impact keeps me committed to exploring the field of marine biology, and fuels my curiosity even towards other fields of environmental biology. I am happiest out in the field (even if it means being out at 3am, running low on sleep, with 3 cups of coffee in my system).

For my FYP, I am studying the role of corals in attenuating wave energy on breakwater structures, consequently exploring the multifaceted role of breakwaters as both coastal defence mechanisms and artificial reefs.
