Interested in wildlife and the ocean, I spent my Honours studying the movement patterns and population size of intertidal gastropods on natural rocky shore and artificial structures. From there on, I developed an interest in urban marine habitats and seawall ecology.

I have since embarked on my PhD, studying ecological processes and species interactions of organisms on intertidal seawalls in Singapore, with an emphasis on trophic interactions that is generally understudied for artificial habitats. I am also involved in projects like ecological engineering of seawalls to enhance biodiversity and mangrove restoration.
