Standard 1: Learner-centered Teaching and Learning-Principle 1 and 3 (RATED ACCEPTABLE). This standard was rated acceptable because of limited collaborative instruction and ongoing instruction in information literacy.
NOODLE TOOLS
This video is an introduction and overview of a Noodletools, an online research tool that guides students through the research process. Students can use the program to notetake, organize sources, creating citations and collaborate with other students.
The video was created through a suggestion from the library advisory committee. The librarian was able to discuss with teachers on the committee about what kinds of tools would best help students during research and the most efficient way to help students learn about new tools on a flexible schedule. The committee decided it would be best to create how to videos that students could access when they were conducting research outside of traditional school hours. The video also helps instruct teachers on the tool in a flexible and convenient way.
This project addresses Standard 1: Teaching and Learning: Principle 1 and 3. The artifact addresses this standard because it is focused on integrating technology in the curriculum to support information literacy, specifically research skills. Principle 1 is addressed because the librarian is collaborating with the teachers to identify the appropriate tools to support classroom instruction. Principle 3 is being met by providing instruction for students and staff in information literacy.
