We are all makers - maybe not of robots but we certainly make other things: stories, music, cake, movies, choreography, science discoveries, car repairs, crafts, photography, and on and on. There are many resources in your textbook that can be used for making. We'll take some time to explore them and then select something to make that's of interest to you.
Just like we've done each week, take some time to become familiar with the following tool overviews in your textbook:
Art & Graphic Design p. 55
Book Publishing p. 79
Comic Strip Creators p. 95
Makerspaces p. 177
Music p. 199
Photo Editing p. 210
Video: Animation and Production p. 281
Or other creation tools you're interested in
After reading through several categories in your textbook - think of a project you'd like to do that requires some sort of creativity.
For this project, you will select a digital tool that is NEW to you.
Choose a project that really interests you or makes you passionate!
Choose a project will take you at least 2-3 hours to create. If you have the time and want to create something truly rewarding for yourself, feel free to invest additional time and challenge yourself!
You should NOT use a tool that automatically generates something with a few clicks and simple prompts.
Build your project. Take at least 2 pictures/videos of your progress and include them on your Create page. Then, post your final project (screenshot, video, link, etc), ensuring it is publicly viewable.
Example projects:
- Create a vlog of your daily life as a UGA student using CapCut
- Make a fun game by coding using Scratch
- Audio record you playing the guitar and create a music using GarageBand
- Cook 3 meals that you've never cooked before and create a poster using Visme
- Try out sewing and create a tutorial video using VN
- Create a mobile app prototype using Figma
Write about what you learned: On a new Google Doc, write a 500 word reflection. In your reflection, include the following:
Share your maker journey in detail; design processes, challenges, interesting parts, enjoyable moments, and what was new to you.
Include how experiences like this might support meaningful learning and creativity (you need to cite this week's resources in Tasks 1 and 2).
Ensure the document is shared in a viewable format for 'anyone with the link.' Then, insert it on your Create page.
Please double check your website with the incognito browser to check if the mind map is displayed properly to the public.
Windows, Linux, or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n.
Mac: Press ⌘ + Shift + n.
Your maker project artifact with the selected tool (4 pts)
- At least 2 screenshots or videos that shows design process
- Link, screenshot, or video of the final artifact
Embed 500-word reflection document on your "Create" page (2 pts)
