If you haven't already, please first create the headings first for the Unit 3 tasks.
You may refer to the instructions on the "Basic Setup page (click)"
In the first task, we will look at four important skills in education called the "4Cs" that are included in the 21st-century skills. The 4 Cs are: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Before we look deeper into what each means, I want you to do a quick hands-on activity first.
Let's go a little old-school for a minute. You'll need a piece of paper for this activity.
If we were in a face-to-face class, I would hand you an index card or giant post-it note to do this. I am a huge fan of office supplies, and it's such a shame that I don't get to make use of my world's largest collection of Sharpie markers in this class!
Part 1. Check your prior knowledge & Learn about 4C skills
On any piece of paper, write your thoughts about each of the 4 Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity). As far as you know, what are they? What is their value in a learning environment?
Leave enough space after your hand-written answer for each topic (see the example on the right).
DO NOT use Google for an answer; let's just see where you are. It's perfectly okay to give an example you are familiar with.
You may use a handwriting note-taking app like Goodnotes or Notability.
Take a picture of your paper for later; you'll use this in step 4.
Part 2. 4C Skills
Watch this short video, "What are the 4 Cs?". This video does a great job of outlining how different K12 activities connect with the 4Cs. Take some notes, as you'll use them in step 4.
Now back to the picture you took in step 2. Use your favorite picture editing tool (mine are the tools available on my camera app) and add 3–4 sentences to each 4C skill like the example picture on the right.
In your writing, make observations about your original ideas and how they have changed based on viewing the 4Cs video.
What was new to you? What did you learn from the video?
When done, post your edited photo under the title "Task 1. 4C Skills in the Classroom" of your "Collaborate" page.
Don't forget to publish! (Not published = not submitted)
↑ Your final photo will look something like this.
Handwritten lists of prior knowledge about 4C skills (1pt).
Watch the video and write 3-4 sentences on each 4C skill, summarizing what was new (1pt).
