Task 2. Introduce Yourself

Learning online may sometimes make you feel distant from the lecturer and other students. However, beyond the cold screen and texts, there are warm-hearted individuals looking forward to connecting with you. So, before we dive into other tasks, let's take a moment to get to know each other and exchange welcomes. 

Preparations

1. You'll need a computer with a webcam or a mobile device with the free Flip app (previously known as Flipgrid) in order to record. 

2. Go to our first Flip question. Please use the link to your assigned class (you can find your class placement on the EDIT2000E eLC main page and in my first announcement email.).

3. Choose "Continue with Microsoft" and use your UGA email and password to log in.   

4. If you're using a mobile device, enter this code when prompted:

Action items

1. Take a greeting video for around 1-2 minutes. In your video, include the following:

   • • Name

     • Year and area of study

     • Brief background (where you're from, student organization, etc)

     • Among the course objectives in our syllabus, what are the two you're most interested in?

     • What tools, apps, or online platforms do you like to use for your learning, and why? 

     • Please introduce anything/anyone that makes you happy, and why.

       • • You may share your hobbies, your loved ones, or anything that you love or are passionate about. One previous student shared her Hot Wheels collection in her video, and I loved it! 

     • Your beautiful smile :)

2. Take a few minutes to leave welcoming comments on more than 3 classmates' videos. Who knows? Your kind messages may make someone happy today!

   • • A friendly reminder: interacting actively with your peers counts for a participation score (5% of the total grade).
