Teaching Philosophy: These are the principles that guide my teaching.
I always prioritize responding to my students' emails as promptly as possible. To make your email stand out, please include the course code (EDIT2000E-A or EDIT2000E-B) in the subject line of any emails to me.
I appreciate interacting with my students, so don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback, big or small. I usually reply to emails within a few hours during the week, but feel free to send me a reminder if you haven't heard back from me after several days.
Hyejin (Jinny) is an instructional designer, researcher, and instructor. Upon receiving her M.Ed. degree at UGA, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology. Her research idea revolves around designing an educational app for the mental health of students, to help them learn to their full potential without emotional struggles.
In Korea, she previously served on the advisory committee in a corporate setting to design AI-enhanced math learning apps. She also worked as a trainer to help public school teachers gamify their classrooms. In the U.S., she designed online courses including leadership training for UGA faculty members, program evaluation training with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, and graduate-level instructional design courses.
She believes that the goal of learning is to become a "critical thinker." It is her greatest joy to help her students actively think and question rather than passively receive information - as this is the route to a meaningful learning. She also believes learning should take place in a safe and caring environment where each student feels valued and loved. For her full teaching philosophy statement, click here.
Jinny is from Seoul, South Korea and currently resides in Georgia with her loving husband. She enjoys taking afternoon walks and documenting the world with her vintage film cameras.
