You will have heard of these mystical dragons spoken about. Everyone seems to be gushing about Iris this and Manus that. But just what are these dragons, what makes them so special, and how can you obtain one?
Note: Limited Heroic dragons exist, but at the current time, all Limited Heroic dragons are not viable. This article only discusses Limited Legendary dragons.
It is not easy to obtain a Limited dragon. They cannot be summoned from Advanced Summon, bought with relationship points from the Witch's Cauldron, or even selected with the Legendary Selection Ticket. They can only be hatched from the following Eggs:
It is very rare to hatch a Limited dragon from any type of Egg apart from the Absolute Legendary Egg (which guarantees a Limited Legendary dragon). For example, the chance of hatching a Limited Legendary from a Fantasy Egg is about 0.02%!
The Absolute Legendary Egg can be bought with Clan Coins or Valor Medals. If you play every day, it will likely take you 2 months or so to get your first Absolute Legendary Egg - not too long to wait for what will likely be a great addition to your team!
Thanks in part to the difficulty of obtaining one in the first place, Limited Dragons often have significantly higher base stats than their normal counterparts. Sometimes they have a special leader skill that can only be used in Colosseum.
Many of them have a unique skillset as well.
However, due to the ever-changing nature of the game, some Limiteds enter and leave favour. Magnas, previously one of the most desirable Limited thanks to its high base ATK and skills that further boost its damage output, is now considered obsolete. The introduction of Ancient Runes, especially Survival runes, and even the now myriad of dragons that activate invulnerability below a HP percentage, 3 Mana Cost drag skills are no longer as good as they used to be. They have a longer cooldown, and can no longer take out half a team or more in one hit, and the dragon itself can become vulnerable during the cooldown period.
But! Do not despair if you get what you perceive to be an unfortunate, obsolete dragon! Thanks to their high power, all Limited dragons are useful in some content, and they are all worthy dragons.
A unique Attack Type dragon that can heal itself and its allies. It is a great PvE dragon thanks to its self-heal - it can be great for content of moderate difficulty where fitting your team needs a few roles to be fulfilled, as Verus can help a sufficiently sturdy team to stay alive without a healer.
Unfortunately, Verus's drag skill costs 3 mana, and his leader skill only works in Colosseum, where Verus does not perform very well. Still a great dragon to have though, and could do good work in bottom lane Clan Dungeon, and of course, in Tower of Tests.
An Attack Type dragon with some of the highest base ATK around. Can reach great multipliers, and Dark has a diverse skillset that can be put to good use in Colosseum. Amazing lead skill too!
Unfortunately, 3 Mana Cost dragons have fallen out of favour thanks to Survival runes and dragons with similar in-built abilities, and Magnas is not as good in Colosseum as he used to be. Fire and Water Magnas also have an unfortunate skill that increases his damage only when certain conditions are met (either buffs on himself or debuffs on others), so he needs some team-tailoring to reach his full potential, which is not ideal.
The leader skill is still excellent though, and he is a good dragon for Tower of Tests or bottom lane Clan Dungeon. Dark Magnas especially, thanks to his power boosting when the opponent is under 50% HP. Go in to a Light boss Clan Dungeon when it is below 50% HP and let Magnas do his magic!
An absolutely amazing support dragon for Colosseum. Penellion can remove buffs, provide mana, buffs, debuffs, and even status effects. Dark Penellion is a terrifying dragon that can render attackers, particularly dragons whose drag skills scale off Critical DMG, next to useless.
Each Penellion has a somewhat unique skillset so it is difficult to discuss them in general. However, know that Dark and Light are the best elements, followed by Water. Earth Penellion's shield is not as good as the stat buffs provided by her sisters, but her stun is still very good, and her DEF debuffs are useful against DEF-based teams, of which there are many at the current time. She is just slightly outclassed by a certain Legendary dragon, but still a great dragon to have.
The absolute best Defense Type dragons around. Super bulky and can throw up shields 3 to 5 times in a fight (depending on the element). Light and Fire can deal impressive damage too, especially Light. A very popular choice on DEF teams thanks to the fact that they can take hits and dish them out as well.
Light is an especially formidable opponent, who has invulnerability that activates for the whole team when one ally falls below 20% HP. This invulnerability can activate up to 3 times when he is max skilled. Partnered with Survival runes and dragons that have the same ability for themselves such as Iris, and you have an team that is difficult to stop in its tracks.
Earth is a bit unfortunate as its drag skill scales off HP, thus making it difficult to keep it healthy throughout the battle. It still has a great skill set though, with both stun and silence, making it versatile for fitting on any team.
The most wanted Limited since she came out with no competition. Amazing high base ATK stats, and all of them become invulnerable when they hit below 50% HP and transform into a dragon. Their skills also change slightly to cause more damage when they are in the shape of a dragon.
Iris is such a powerful dragon that can be used for any content, very easy to use, and all of them are pretty much on an equal footing. A really amazing dragon to have on your team - and a difficult one to fight against. Status effects can briefly override its dragon-transforming passive, but most Iris have Survival runes so that they cannot be completely defeated by status effects.
If you get one, you immediately revoke your right to ever complain about the game. Sorry, I don't make the rules.
Beautiful moon rabbit. Dark is a gorgeous dragon with insane bulk and the highest base HP of all helers in the game. Both have revive and invulnerability, and Dark has immunity as well. 4-target heal too, making them possibly the best healers in the game, although they still face competition from Dark and Fire Totem's ATK boost.
Light's healing ability scales off ATK Speed, which can make it more difficult to build than other healers. She also buffs Critical Rate, which may not be ideal if you already have dragons with high Critical Rate and/or use Kethas. Using Light Manus, however, may give you the luxury of investing in other stats on your other dragons.
Dark Manus, besides her bulk, buffs DEF, making her a highly desirable choice for a DEF-based team.
The newest Limited Legendary dragon at the time of writing, so they have not been extensively tested yet.
