In 2013 I received the Cathy Kenney Mini Grant. I used the grant to purchase Surface tablets and iPads for the teacher education program. The students are introduced to the tablets in my technology class (ED 225), and then use them in their other courses. Other professors in the division also use the tablets for undergraduate and graduate courses and for workshops.
In early 2014, Google released the beta of their new learning management system "Google Classroom." I had been using Google Sites and Google Drive in my technology class, and provided a strong enough argument to Google to let me test out Classroom. I worked in Classroom on my own and then with my class to review the system and help Google troubleshoot issues. In the fall of that year, I worked with IT to obtain complete access to Google Classroom and all of Google for Education for Dominican College. As an administrator in the platform, I add students, create and conduct classes and teach my students all that Google for Education has to offer. A former student of mine piloted Google for Education in Rockland County public schools, and our teacher education students are fully versed in the system and are ready to implement it on day one of their teaching career. Below are screenshots of my classroom page, one of my classes and my Google Admin access:
