Similar to OneNote for Educators, schools use SharePoint in Office 365. SharePoint is similar to Google Sites, but extends the site capabilities to include collaborative work and chat features. Many companies in the business world also use SharePoint because it is protected under the Microsoft cloud and allows users to privately share documents as well as work together on them. Therefore, SharePoint is a skill for many jobs both in and out of the classroom. In order to familiarize my students AND other members of the Dominican College community in the software, I created SharePoint sites for my 225 class and for the Office 365 workshops I conducted for faculty and staff. In both situations we work directly on the SharePoint site in order to become familiar with how to work with them, and then everyone has full access forever in order to return to the software for either a refresher or to see the latest updates (which are done automatically and in real time).
