A list of tutorials making use of the in game console. This is to give users an idea of how the in game console can be used and encourage further exploration!

Summon Mounts

VehicleSpawn <VehicleName>. Summons a vehicle (mount) where the camera is pointed. Only one of each type can be summoned. Be careful not to summon too many different vehicles. Vehicles with strikethrough formatting cannot be summoned.

VehicleSpawn V105_E003 - Summons a red dragon!

Summoning a vehicle without specifying which type i.e. VehicleSpawn V105 will typically summon the first type, E001.

Custom Battles / Spawning Monsters, Animals and NPCs

The commands needed for this are MonsterSpawn and BattleMonsterSpawn. Monster names coming soon.

MonsterSpawn XXXX_XXXX(_YYY) - Summons a monster, animal, or NPC where the camera is pointed, depending on the location and what type of creature it is, you may be able to initiate battle with it as if it were a wild monster. Attempting this during battle will add passive monsters to the battlefield.

BattleMonsterSpawn XXXX_XXXX(_YYY) - Summons a monster or NPC in battle mode, as if they were summoned normally by another monster.

Guest NPCs / Following Party

Allows the player to set guest NPCs for adventuring and party talk. Some of these guests will appear to help out in battle. Others will just follow you around. Followers are reset every time you change location, but the command is still useful for setting up custom battles, screenshots and gameplay clips.

Simple Photomode [Definitive Edition]

Using console commands, you can use a "simple photomode" alternative by making use of the photomode functions outside of the photomode menu. This could be used to take unique screenshots or play emotes & dance on the spot wherever you are.

To enter "simple photomode", use the command PhotoMode_CharacterEnter.
To play emotes you can use the PhotoMode_PlayCharacterEmotion <EmotionName> command, substituting <EmotionName> for one of the arguments below.
To stop playing emotes, use the
PhotoMode_StopCharacterEmotion command.

PhotoMode_CharacterLookAt can be used to adjust the orientation of the characters relative to the camera position, and PhotoMode_CharacterHeadLookAt can be used to force the character to look at the camera position. You can use DebugGameCamera to select a specific point in 3d space, for example, high in the sky or at a nearby character's face. Without this freecam command, you are limited to the constraints of the default game camera. To stop your character staring into space, simply use the PhotoMode_CharacterHeadLookAtEnd command.

PhotoMode_SetHiddenCharacter 1 will hide all characters, which could be useful for taking screenshots if you do not have a way to access to first person camera.
In contrast,
PhotoMode_SetHiddenCharacter 0 will bring back the hidden characters.

Using PhotoMode_CharacterLeave will cancel "simple photomode".
If you use this in the normal photomode menu, you will have all the usual options, but additional characters will disappear and none of the posing options will work.

Summon NPCs - Screenshots & Recording

It is possible to spawn in unlimited NPC characters using the SpawnActor <Class> command. Unfortunately this command seems to be limited to summoning classes and doesn't have an option to set the NPC's coordinate (costume), so only a handful of NPCs can be summoned. The only way we currently know to change these summoned character's outfits is to use ce DebugNpcAllSetCoordinate <Coordinate>, but this will affect every NPC currently loaded in game.

For a blank slate to work with, you can use any of the following commands to remove existing NPCs:

DestroyAll <aClass> - Destroy all actors of class aClass

DestroyAllPawnsExceptTarget - Destroy all pawns except for the (pawn) target.

DestroyPawns <aClass> - Destroys (by calling destroy directly) all non-player pawns of class aClass in the level

DestroyTarget - Destroy the actor you're looking at

MonsterGeneratorEnabled

Using ViewClass <Class>, you can see through an existing or spawned NPCs eyes. Great for recording gameplay. You can change their orientation by speaking to them from a different angle, otherwise they will all face the same direction. It doesn't seem like you can specify which particular NPC to use (this only works with ViewActor), so try not to exceed 21 (1 of each class listed above) NPCs if you use this to create a network of cameras.

Changing Player Characters [Definitive Edition]

Allows the user to play as any party member. Some characters do not have animations for all actions, and are incapable of jumping. Characters that are featured in story chapters - Erik, Jade, Rab & Sylvando - offer a more complete experience than others.

Using a diffferent player value will allow you to play as characters such as Veronica and Hendrik. You can also change character by index number (0=Hero, 7=Hendrik). Using an index number higher than 7 results in playing as a clone of Hero. Using any of these characters except Hero seems to result in certain features being unavailable e.g. vehicles.

ce DebugSetControlledPlayer [0-7] also lets you choose your player character, unlike the above method, this one takes place immediately after a brief loading screen, but in doing so your party will get wiped.

Restore Serena's Power From Act 2

This will allow Serena to use her spells and equipment from act 2 at any point during the game. The first command will change the flag to allow the spells and equipment to be used, the second command will enable the extended skill panel.

Alternatively, you could use RunMacro P011_Lv99_FullOpen which will accomplish the same as the above commands, but with the addition of setting Serena to Lv99, unlocking all skill panels and adding a few new weapons to the bag.


Restore Serena's Power From Act 2 [old methods]

Input the following commands exactly as shown. The first command restores Serena's skill panel to how it was in Act 2, allowing you to relearn skills from Veronica's tree. The ActionLearn commands will teach Serena all of Veronica's spells. There is currently no way of doing this without cheating, save for manually adding the spells as Veronica learns them. If you would like to know which spell is which, google "spellname" dragon quest with quotation marks and you should be able to find the information from any DQ wiki.

METHOD 1 - Straight-Up Cheating

NOTE: This command will unlock ALL skills - passives, abilities and spells across all characters (including some you're not supposed to have i.e. hero's weather forecast ability) all for the low price of 0 skill points. This is very difficult to undo with commands, so please only use this for testing purposes or if you just want to cheat.

That's it. You should now be able to wield Veronica's weapons, use her spells, and have all her passives unlocked, even if you can't see them in the Character Builder. If you want to see them, just use "SetFlag "System" "/Player/SkillPanelState_P004" 1" and the menu should now display the Act 2 Skill Panel State instead.
