Doors open 7pm for 7.30pm start in the Village Hall
In accordance with the Downderry and Seaton Village Hall Rules and Bye Laws, no new members/renewing membership will be accepted from today, the 6th March, until at, or after, the AGM.
The Downderry and Seaton Village Hall Constitution requires one third of Trustees to retire each year and consequently the four Trustees who have been longest in office will retire at the AGM. The Trustees who will retire, although they are allowed to re-stand at the AGM are, Marian Candy, Simon Jaycock, Lynne Rees and Mandy Smith. Andy Tilley will also retire as he was elected by the Trustees after the last AGM.
Village Hall members are now invited to stand for election as a Trustee (6 vacancies) of the Downderry and Seaton Village Hall.
No individual may be appointed as a Trustee of the CIO if he or she is under the age of 16 years or if he or she would automatically cease to hold office under the provisions of clause 15.1.16. ‘Is disqualified from acting as a Trustee by virtue of sections 178-180 of the Charities Act 2011 (or any statutory re-enactment or modification of the provision)’.
Downderry and Seaton Village Hall Trustees are responsible for the maintenance of the fabric, fixtures, equipment and fittings of the Village Hall by raising funds from membership fees, hall and equipment hire charges, seeking grants and/or contributions towards capital projects. Trustees, when available, organise and run Fundraising Events and do other general duties to ensure the smooth running of the Village Hall.
For more information about the work of a Trustee, see the Charity Commission Guidance ‘The essential trustee, what you need to know, what you need to do’, which is available on the Gov.uk website. Also see the Downderry and Seaton Village Hall Constitution (CIO with wider membership), Trustees Code of Conduct, Roles and Responsibilities.
