The #DiscoveryReads

Challenge!

We had a truly inspirational time thanks to our parent-led stories!

The Discovery Read-Aloud - Challenge Accepted!

A huge THANK YOU to all the parents who came in to read a book to our classes!

You have shared some amazing stories with us.

In the 3s English class we read "Wolfie The Bunny"

This beautiful story of adoption challenged our assumptions about what family really means.

There is an easy way to improve your child's chances at school!

It will entertain and delight your child and strengthen the bonds between you and your child. And it is virtually free.

Sound too good to be true? Actually, it isn't. The magical method: taking time to read aloud to your child.

Read to your child every day for at least 20 minutes in any language. Read more here.. and here

The Boy Who Cared

One parent brought in a locally written story "The Boy Who Cared" by Rwandan authors and Rwandan characters.

This book emphasises the importance of compassion and caring for our environment.

The class was truly captivated!

We invite parents to do a Read-Aloud anytime in the term or year,

We are so excited as a school to see such powerful parental involvement.

What happens now when there is a Covid19 case at school?

Going forward, when we find out there is a positive case in a class, all students and staff will be tested twice, first on the day the case is identified, and then again after 3 days to screen for any further contagion.

All who test negative for covid19 each time we test will continue with their classes as usual. Positive students and staff will stay at home until they are fully recovered and present negative test results.

When possible Discovery will arrange for testing to be done at Discovery and parents will be requested to pay for the tests via Mobile Money.

Please keep sick children at home until they are fully recovered and have tested negative for covid19.
