April 29th 2021 - Parents' Update

Welcome again to Term 3 of the 2020-2021 academic year!

We can hardly believe that the end of this school year is fast approaching. We are all planning for a strong finish, rigorously focused on students’ well-being, progress and attainment. Thank you for partnering with us so resiliently throughout this academic year, which has been another interesting one! We have, again, been challenged by the necessary restrictions that the Covid19 pandemic has placed on school operations and we have risen to the challenges together!

Our students have continued to enjoy learning with their peers, making lots of progress in a variety of ways and meeting their curriculum targets, despite the school closures, the quick shifts to online learning and the moves back to the campus and in-person school. As we sprint towards the end of this term, we will be kept motivated by the upcoming end-of-year evaluations and the opportunities they offer our Discovery team and students to show what has been learnt.

Arrival Time Reminder: the Morning Accelerator

Primary students (5 years and above) arrive at 7.30 a.m to be in time for their Morning Accelerator.

Early Years students (4 years and below) should, similarly, arrive by 8 a.m. (siblings of Primary students will arrive earlier as usual).

We now hold a Morning Accelerator for 30-60 minutes every morning. This is one of the times when teachers personalise learning and work with your children to close their learning gaps, do revision and enrich their learning!

We are emphasising the Morning Accelerator as a crucial period of learning for all children.

Please keep in mind that all of the children are required to be in school on time for their Morning Accelerator this term, especially as we close out the academic year.

Thank you for organising your arrival routine to ensure your children arrive as promptly as possible each morning.

Important Dates

Student Absences

If your child is going to be absent, please inform the teacher immediately. When a child is absent for more than 3 days, a member of the school leadership team will make a follow-up phone call to check on the student's well-being. A kind reminder that students who are chronically absent are at risk of falling behind in their learning.

End of Primary Exams

Cambridge International Checkpoint Assessments

We are very pleased to inform you that our pioneer group of Year 6 candidates have completed the Cambridge Checkpoint Assessments. They sat English, maths and science papers from the 21st to the 23rd April 2021. We witnessed their hard work and determination as they prepared for their end of Primary examinations and we are certain that their outcomes will reflect their best efforts!

Health Guidelines Reminders

The Covid19 rapid testing exercise went very well at the beginning of the term; thank you for your participation and for keeping your children safe and Covid19-free over the holidays!

To maintain a healthy environment for our entire school community throughout this term, we urge you to remind yourself of the Health Guidelines by clicking here. Also, for your easy reference, is the Discovery Covid19 Prevention: Health Response Policy which we encourage you to read again.

Together we can maintain a healthy school if we rigorously adhere to the Covid19 preventive measures and keep the children at home if they are sick.
