Project INNOVATE: Initiating New Opportunities for Versatile and Effective Teaching Resources
Project INNOVATE is a dynamic initiative of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) that aims to strengthen the development, curation, and utilization of quality-assured and contextualized learning resources aligned with the Revised K–12 Curriculum. This project recognizes the evolving needs of learners and the necessity for flexible, relevant, and localized teaching materials that reflect real-life contexts, especially in diverse learning environments such as basic education, Kindergarten, Special Needs Education (SNED) and the Alternative Learning System (ALS).
Through Project INNOVATE, the division commits to ensuring that schools, teachers, and learners are equipped with up-to-date, culturally relevant, and pedagogically sound learning resources, while also maximizing digital platforms and teacher expertise.
The Schools Division Office of Ligao City, through the Curriculum Implementation Division and the Learning Resource Management Section, successfully conducted the Division Training-Orientation on Test Item Bank Development on April 11, 2024. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing assessment practices across the division, particularly in Grades 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10.
The activity aimed to capacitate teachers in the development of quality-assured test items aligned with curriculum standards for use in periodic tests and division-initiated assessments. The training emphasized rigorous processes such as field validation, quality assurance, and reliability testing to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the items to be included in the test item bank.
The successful conduct of this activity reflects the division's strong commitment to delivering reliable, valid, and high-quality assessment tools, thereby improving the overall teaching and learning experience. The project is expected to culminate in the development of a centralized Division Test Item Bank that sets a new standard for localized assessment within and beyond Ligao City.
Division Training Workshop on Crafting Contextualized ALS Learning Resources and Assessment Tools
In pursuit of delivering inclusive, relevant, and quality education for all, the Schools Division Office of Ligao City successfully conducted the Division Training Workshop on Crafting Contextualized ALS Learning Resources and Assessment Tools on June 24–26, 2025 at St. Elmo Event Hall, Batang, Ligao City. This division-led initiative, jointly organized by the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and the Learning Resource Management Section (LRMS), was designed to strengthen the instructional and assessment capacities of ALS implementers by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to develop learner-centered, contextualized materials anchored on real-life community experiences.
The three-day workshop focused on the creation of localized session guides and assessment tools aligned with the five learning strands of ALS: Communication Skills, Scientific and Critical Thinking Skills, Mathematical and Problem Solving Skills, Life and Career Skills, and Understanding the Self and Society. Participants included ALS teachers, Learning Area Supervisors, and focal persons who collaborated in crafting materials that reflect the socio-cultural and economic contexts of learners in Ligao City.
Among the key outputs were contextualized instructional guides and assessment tools, which will undergo further validation and refinement prior to pilot implementation in selected Community Learning Centers (CLCs). These materials are expected to enhance the effectiveness of ALS delivery and support the development of functional literacy and lifelong learning skills among out-of-school youth and adult learners.
