Below is a description of capital improvement projects the township is working on and their status.
These projects include municipal roadway maintenance and repaving, park improvement, and other work which benefit the businesses and residents of Deerfield.
We will also update the below information regarding County and State projects.
Completed in October 2020, ADA improvements were made to Frank LoBiondio Park and Eugenia Johnson Park. Included were new playground equipment, a walking path, parking improvements, and resurfacing of a tennis court. Funding was provided through a Small Cities Grant.
Additional ADA projects have been applied for through a 2021 grant.
Garrison Road (township-owned) has been resurfaced.
Funding was provided by a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant.
Maple Street (township-owned) has been resurfaced from Greenman Avenue to Morton Avenue. This project has been completed.
The funding for this project was provided by a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant.
Mulberry Street (township-owned) will be repaved in 2021. Bidding for the project has not yet begun.
Funding was provided by a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant.
The county will be resurfacing Parvins Mill Road (CR645) from Richards Road (CR605) to the Salem County line. Due to the pandemic, there is no start date on this project.
Resurfacing drainage improvements and road regrading will take place.
This project is funded by Cumberland County.
The county has resurfaced Big Oak Road (CR658) from the previous resurfacing project to Morton Avenue (CR634).
This project is funded by Cumberland County.
The county installed all-way stop signs with flashers at the intersection of Parvins Mills Road and Big Oak Road as well as the intersection of Lebanon Road and Kenyon Avenue. Lebanon and Kenyon signs will be effective on or about January 6, 2021.
This project is funded by a grant from the federal government.
The county will be resurfacing Richards Road (CR 605), Jesse's Bridge Road (CR 636) and Lebanon Road (CR 654) in 2021. No date has been determined for these projects and will be subject to weather conditions.
These projects are funded by the county.
