St Clement's Bob Triples
Notes by Alan Rowe
Notes by Alan Rowe
When hunting up, the rules for passing the treble are the same as for Grandsire Triples:
Pass treble in 1-2 up = Make 3rds
Pass treble in 2-3 up = Dodge 4-5 up
Pass treble in 3-4 up = Dodge 6-7 up
Pass treble in 4-5 up = Dodge 6-7 down
Pass treble in 5-6 up = Dodge 4-5 down
Pass treble in 6-7 up = Hunt bell
When hunting down, if the treble is below you when you get to 4-5, then dodge and go onto the front work. Otherwise make thirds and hunt up.
The standard calls are the same as Grandsire Triples:
3rds place is made when the treble is in 1-2 down
The bell which would have made 3rds is unaffected
The bell which would have dodged 4-5 up makes 3rds & in, becoming the hunt bell
Other bells double dodge in 4-5 or 6-7
Similar to a bob, with 2nd & 3rds places also made as the treble is leading
The bell which would have made 3rds instead makes 2nds & in, becoming the hunt bell
The bell which would have dodged 4-5 up makes long 3rds
Other bells double dodge in 4-5 or 6-7.
Calls similar to those used in Double Norwich Caters can also be used. These have the advantage of affecting fewer bells.
3rds place is made when the treble is in 4-5 up
The bell which was about to go on to the front work instead makes 3rds & out, becoming the hunt bell
The bell in the hunt does 4 dodges 1-2 up
The bell which would have triple dodged in 1-2 up instead does 4 dodges in 1-2 down
1st, 2nd & 3rds places are made when the treble is in 4-5 up
The bell which was about to go on to the front work instead makes 3rds & out, becoming the hunt bell
The bell in the hunt makes 2nds and triple dodges in 1-2 down
