London Bob Triples

This method is based on bells making places in 3rds and 5ths around the treble and hunt bell as they pass through. The places in thirds cause the bells in 1-2 to dodge, while the places in 5ths cause the bells in 6-7 to dodge.

An additional place is made in 5ths as the hunt bell is turning the treble from the back. This causes dodges in 1-2 and 3-4. The 1-2 dodge joins the existing dodges on the front, making a triple dodge. The 3-4 dodge is attached to the places being made around the treble and hunt bell.

• Always triple dodge in 1-2. If you pass the treble in 2-3 down then triple dodge up; if you pass the treble in 3-4 down then triple dodge down.

• Always single dodge in 6-7. If you pass the treble in 2-3 up then dodge 6-7 up; if you pass the treble in 4-5 up then dodge 6-7 up &down; if you pass the treble in 5-6 up then dodge 6-7 down.

• If you pass the treble in 1-2 up then make 5ths, 3rds & dodge 3-4 up.

• If you pass the treble in 5-6 up then dodge 3-4 down, make 3rds & 5ths.

• If you pass the treble in 6-7 down, make 5ths & out.

• A dodge in 6-7 down is followed by a dodge in 1-2 or 3-4 down.

• A dodge in 1-2 or 3-4 up is followed by a dodge in 6-7 up.

The calls are the same as Grandsire Triples in terms of the additional places made. However, the effect is quite different. The singles in particular will trip up the unprepared!

Bobs

3rds place is made when the treble is in 1-2 down

• The bell which passes the treble in 2-3 up and would have gone out to dodge in 6-7 instead makes 3rds & in, becoming the hunt bell

• The hunt bell dodges 4-5 down then goes onto the front

• The bell making places down (i.e. which has just made 3rds and is about to make 5ths instead dodges 4-5 up then goes out to dodge 6-7 up

Singles

Similar to a bob,with 2nd & 3rds places also made as the treble is leading

• The bell which passes the the treble in 1-2 up makes 2nds & in, becoming the hunt bell

• The bell which passes the treble in 2-3 up and would have gone out to dodge in 6-7 instead makes 3 blows in 3rds then makes places up, i.e. 5ths & 3rds

• The hunt bell dodges 4-5 down then goes onto the front

• The bell making places down (i.e. which has just made 3rds and is about to make 5ths instead dodges 4-5 up then goes out to dodge 6-7up
