Workshop on

Moments of L-functions

Transportation

Both getting from the Prince George airport to the UNBC and using public transportation in the city are very straightforward. If you need to take the city bus while in Prince George, day passes are available on the bus for $5 in cash (please note that bus drivers cannot give change); more information about bus fares is on their website. If you need a cab, the recommended taxi company is Prince George Taxi (250-564-4444). Please note that this cab company accepts cash and credit payments, but not debit. You may also add your information to this spreadsheet of participant arrivals if you'd like to coordinate transportation with other attendees.

Accommodations

Lodging will be provided for participants at UNBC Residence (in shared suites) at no cost. Upon arrival to the Neyoh building where the residence is located, call 250-961-8311 and a resident assistant will be with you in few minutes to provide you with your access card. If you do not have a phone, a representative can also be reached by using the white phone in the lower lobby of the Neyoh building. The resident assistants are available 24 hours a day; please reach out to them if you have questions or require assistance (for example, with your wireless access). You can find additional information about what to expect while checking in and while staying at the residence.

Dining Options

We will provide light breakfasts and catered lunches during the workshop. For other food options on campus, please visit the the front counter at the Agora Dining Hall which offers an assortment of freshly made, packaged food items and cold/hot to-go beverages (open 8 am–3 pm). You may also check Degrees Coffee Shop located on the first floor of the Teaching and Learning Buiding (Building 10) for fresh-brewed specialty fair trade coffees, teas, lattes, and an assortment of light snacks (open 9 am–2:30 pm).

For your dining options, we invite you to explore some of the restaurants that downtown Prince George boasts. These recommended restaurants and grocery stores are all accessible by bus from the UNBC bus loop (UNBC Exchange Bay A). You may also order in to your residence suite if you are staying on campus: the most common food delivery apps in Prince George are SkipTheDishes and DoorDash.

Venue and Registration Table

The workshop will take place in the NHSC (Northern Health Sciences Centre) (Building 9, also known as the medical building). On Monday morning, please head to the NHSC atrium to collect your name tag, pronoun stickers, and swag bag. The registration table will be open starting at 8:00 am. The workshop activities will take place in the lecture hall 9-200. Please note that food and drinks (other than water) are not permitted in the lecture hall.

A light breakfast (an assortment of mini-pastries and muffins) will be available every day at 8:30 am in the NHSC atrium. The catered lunches and coffee breaks will also be served in the NHSC atrium. (In addition to the above campus map showing residences and surrounding streets, you can view another detailed map of campus buildings if it’s helpful.)
