Behind the outpost the ground raises up at a fairly steep angle, creating a mountainous area that blocks guests off from going any further, however this part of the land isn’t just a barrier, as it actually contains an entire attraction. If guests take a path leading them up towards the mountains, they’ll find a cave opening next to a small waterfall, which has a sign revealing that it’s the land’s IP offering, a water flume/dark ride named Brother Bear: Salmon Run!
The queue is housed inside an icy cavern where guests board their rafts, which will carry them across a “river”. In front of the boarding station, there are animatronics of the titular bear brothers, Kenai and Koda, who exchange dialogue on loop establishing the plot of the ride. As winter comes to a close, all the bears are once again going for a salmon run, and thus Kenai and Koda are setting off on another adventure through Alaska to meet up with the other bears, and guests get to come along!
As the ride starts the cavern opens up to let guests out into the gorgeous sight of the snow capped pine tree forest, as the river bends through the grassy fields, birds fly between the trees and chipmunks run across the ground, while our ursine duo merrily trek along on the sides of the river, until the ride hits its first drop as we slide down into a muddy crater.
Koda plays around in the mud while Kenai tries to find a way out of the pit, until fortunately their moose friends Tuke and Rutt come to help them out but using their antlers to push away a clump of mud and rocks, revealing the continuing path of the river. Kenai and Koda thank the meese before moving on.
While it might seem like it’s smooth sailing as the bears are on solid ground again while the river carries guests along somewhat more gently, though this doesn’t last for long as a pack of woolly mammoths march by, shaking the earth beneath the bears and sending guests on an up and down journey. It seems like the herd is going to ram straight into a cliff side, bringing the bears and the guests with them, but the woolly mammoths suddenly come to a stop before that happens, they then notice the grizzly siblings and happily lift them up the hill using their trunks, as the river similarly rises.
The terrain is getting higher and rockier, and the stream along with it, but the journey continues safely until the guests and the grizzlies are caught between two rams engaging in a friendly match of fencing using their horns! They may be well intentioned, but their competition is unfortunately shaking up the mountain, causing Kenai to tell them to “stop before they cause an AVALAAAAAANCHE” as rocks start tumbling down and guests face another series of drops.
As things settle down, it seems that guests and the brother bears missed out on the worst… before suddenly a storm blows in out of nowhere, with Kenai holding Koda tightly as they slide down, while guests face drop after drop through the snowy offense in the ride’s climax! The storm clears up and the brown-furred family walk out alongside guests, when they realize that they’ve made it to the salmon run, where all the bears happily greet them, with even Kenai’s old tribe showing up to say hello!
