Mortas Karman

Full Name: Mortas Karman

Rank: Head Detective/Information Gatherer

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Bisexual

Romantic Orientation: Biromantic

Age: 26

Height: 5ft 11in

Weight: 145lbs

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Faceclaim: White from Mahoutsukai No Yamusoki

Affiliation: Karman Detective Agency - A moderate sized 'detective agency' that employs two groups of detectives-- a small group of highly trained crime investigators, and a larger group of mediocre detectives. However, they are simply masquerading as a detective agency. Their true business is assassination. These assassinations are usually two folded. One assassination may be done by sending out members of the detective agency. Another might be done through opening a case for someone who wants justice to be done for someone who had been assassinated. Evidence is then fabricated to pin the blame on the person who needs to be assassinated. Then the misled client who opened a case at the Karman Detective Agency simply does the killing for them.

Another aspect of the Karman Detective Agency is that they host street racing tournaments. The cars used are often manually powered vehicles that are rickety and unsafe, a far cry from the steam automobiles that the rich have. The Karman Detective Agency takes 20% of all the money that is funneled into the tournament.

Personal

Personality: Mortas is subdued yet happy go lucky. He sees himself as invincible, and so he cares not about what happens, whether that be to him or others. He is snarky and willing to step out of line even when faced against someone a multitude more powerful than him. Despite this, Mortas has a very sophisticated way of speaking that implies a high stature in society. Ironically, this is not the case.

This is in contrast to when Mortas has to go somewhere as himself without the assistance of his android self. In this state, he's incredibly nervous and cautious, knowing how frail he is compared to his adversaries. His snarky attitude is notably gone, replaced with a genuinely polite one.

On a given day, Mortas could probably be found hogging a seat in Snowsant's Heart, sipping decaf coffee for the entire day while his android self does the heavy work. Mortas dislikes battle, as he knows that his forte is information gathering and communication.

Mortas gives off the impression of being an incredibly incompetent detective. He often uses farfetched conspiracy theories to explain a crime. Yet he is the one who trained the others in the Karman Detective Agency, who are all very competent detectives. It's up to you to interpret how this is.

History: Mortas lived most of his life in the dog eat dog streets of the 757th city. With very little money to his name, Mortas quickly learned of the associated horrors of life that came with living in the squalor of the city. There was nowhere in this world for morality, for unnecessary softness. But Mortas didn't want that sort of life. He wanted to get out.

After stalking a detective for three months, he eventually managed to convince the detective to take him under his wing. But even after he became a full fledged detective, Mortas was still unable to crawl out of the squalor. For crime was as transparent as glass in the city, so there was hardly any need for a detective.

And sticking his nose into other people's business was no good either. Mortas attracted the attention of a powerful group of assassins, whom tried (unsuccessfully) to kill Mortas. They poisoned the food, but Mortas accidentally left it out for too long and had to toss it. They tried a sniper, but the windows in Mortas's house was covered with so much wood that they couldn't ever get a clear shot. They tried bombing Mortas's house, but by the time they got to doing that, Mortas had already moved out of the shithole of a house and leased it to someone else.

Eventually, the assassins had enough, and they personally knocked on Mortas's door and dragged him kicking and screaming to their hideout, intending to kill him.

But that didn't happen. Even Mortas wasn't sure how, but he somehow convinced the group of assassins to instead let him live.

"Just tell them you killed me," an assassin could remember the insane glint in Mortas's eyes as he pleaded for his life, "I can be of use to you. I know how to hide your tracks."

Somehow, that was enough. Mortas was allowed to stay, albeit locked up in the small safehouse that the assassins lived in. Which was okay, because the safehouse was much more fancy than anything Mortas was used to.

Come two years later, after Mortas had made himself into a respectable sniper, the leader of the assassins was killed in an accident during an assassination mission. Suddenly, without a leader, the assassin group almost fell apart, if not for Mortas.

He offered them to become employed at his detective agency, receive detective training, and all the while continue to be assassins. And rather than get their hands dirty, they could simply sic their assassination target with an angry detective agency client.

Mortas's offer swayed the assassins. And so, two years after mysteriously vanishing, the Karman Detective Agency once more reappeared, now with the extra service of assassins, as well as a street racing tournament, a year after Mortas decided to expand.

As the Karman Detective Agency earned more and more money, Mortas realized he was going to need something of similar power to a guardian if he were to stand on the same pedestal as the crime families that ran the city.

So Mortas began working on a hobby project. Ever since getting pierced by a rusty nail and getting tetanus when he was young, Mortas was deathly afraid of human modifications. So through many auctions, business deals, and trafficking, Mortas made a prototype of a mind-controlling machine fueled by magic and technology.

Using terribly inhumane body modifications supplied by Ylva Logistics Inc, Mortas created an android counterpart of himself that he could use to stand on par with the crime families of the 757th Hierarchical City. He called it the Rhongomiant, after the spear of King Arthur. It was his trusty weapon after all.

Abilities

90% of the time you see Mortas, it is likely through one of his three Rhongomiant androids. This is a highly modified human to the point where they can hardly be called human. Mortas controls the Rhongomiant through a control block in its brain. The Rhongomiant's face is shaped using an odd skin-like material to look like Mortas. A magic-laced voice synthesizer allows Mortas to talk.
