Personality

Years of criticism and questioning by his parents about his actions have shaped and molded Kuro. Unlike many people who would give into that sort of pressure, Kuro molded himself under it. He shaped himself to act more like an adult-- stand up taller, act highly professional, and argue sophisticatedly. And in terms of an argument, if there is someone that tries to criticize Kuro, he will make sure that argument isn't just struck down, but completely and utterly obliterated into nothingness.

Since these traits already led Kuro towards the archetypal type person who was known for being reliable, methodical, and efficient, Kuro went the extra one step to truly embody it. He is hard-working and would never back down from responsibility or vow. He has engraved into himself the habit of thinking everything thoroughly before committing.

But all this hard work and professionalism just amounts to one central idea-- Kuro just wants respect. To be respected as who he is and for his choices and actions to be respected.

Beneath the facade and the mask of coldness is something that couldn't be further away from the hardass lawyer that his folks had shaped him. His thirst for knowledge, which coexists in and out of the facade (for example, he doesn't hate political studies even though he was forced to take it), is expressed beneath the mask as dorkiness and nerdiness. There is no professionalism in how Kuro acts when he's trying to share one of his useless trivia facts. Finally, above all, Kuro longs to be a singing idol. While he may or may not have the looks and personality, Kuro has the talent-- although he hides it, afraid that it will damage his image.

All these hidden traits are usually exposed to his trusted friends. Unfortunately, Kuro's emphasis on independence makes finding such friends very difficult.

Kuro's favorite place on campus is the tea shops. They're a fantastic place to study and a great place to unwind from a long day.

Backstory

Kuro isn't a celebrity nor the heir to a multi-million dollar corporation. His attendance at Yuugen was actually because of the hard work of his parents and because of one lucky slip of paper.

Kuro's parents were strict, "mother and father know best" sort of people. They truly cared about Kuro, although the way they expressed it probably wasn't the best. At a young age, Kuro was told what was right and wrong as well constantly criticized for his actions. Kuro rebelled by learning how to stand up for himself, by acting mature and being able to defend his reasoning. Unbeknownst to Kuro though, this was exactly the result that his parents wanted. They were lawyers, and they wanted Kuro to follow along in their path. It would be a sure path to success.

There were exceptions to both Kuro and his parent's actions. While Kuro was bound by the professionalism that his parents had molded into him, he developed a love for singing. It was the outlet for his pent up feelings, although he only practiced his talent in the safety of the garden in the town park.

As for his parents, they had a horrible gambling habit. Their willpower was enough to limit it to one ticket per week, but the addiction was there. But it paid off when they were granted what every gambler always wanted.

A jackpot.

Kuro and his parents stern demeanors ensured that a large amount of money didn't control them or was lost to a bad cause. Among the many things that they devoted their money on was Kuro's tuition to Yuugen Academy, the school that was most likely to lead to Kuro's success in life. After all, his parents did have the best in mind for Kuro.

And that's where our storytelling begins.
