Amethyst graduated from San Francisco State University in 2019 with a degree in Microbiology, focusing on the Clinical Lab Science Track. She is currently working to obtain a Stem Cell Technology certificate from CCSF. She interned at the Andino Lab at UCSF Mission Bay, learning how to do restriction enzyme cloning via NeBuilder HIFI cloning kit. With changes due to the Coronavirus, Amethyst had the opportunity to learn about TAR cloning of CoVID19, using artificial yeast chromosomes. In the future, she hopes to get involved in medical diagnostics to help patients and doctors to find the best cures for the disease.
