For Students

Managebac

Managebac is the platform through which we handle CAS at Seisen. Your entire CAS portfolio will be handled via Managebac, as will feedback from teachers, CAS interviews, etc. All announcements are made through the ManageBac message board. Students are expected to check messages/emails regularly for all CAS related information.

CAS Classes

CAS Classes are scheduled during some Period 6 hours with the CAS Coordinator. You are required to attend these sessions. Make sure you make the most of CAS Class! During these periods students will be able to complete reflections and proposals, work on their CAS experiences and projects as long as there is supervision, time, and space available, go over programme requirements, and meet with the CAS coordinator to help with anything related to CAS.

Requirement for uploading evidence and reflections

Students must diligently maintain a record by uploading monthly evidence and reflections as part of their academic responsibilities. Each activity requires one piece of evidence along with one corresponding reflection. In cases involving out-of-school activities, students are expected to provide evidence on a weekly basis.

It is imperative that all evidence and reflections are submitted by the end of each month without fail. Failure to meet this deadline may result in students being assigned to the homework club as a measure to catch up on their academic obligations.

Teacher Roles - Who Do I Talk To?

The CAS Coordinator is the person responsible for overseeing the CAS program, checking on student progress, teaching CAS classes, etc. They will be the main person emailing you information, updates, and writing your reports. You can email or make an appointment with the CAS Coordinator anytime if you need help or have any questions.

Your CAS Advisor is your homeroom teacher. They are a good person to talk to if you need help with small things or general advice. They are there to help you progress through the CAS program, and will meet with you regularly to get updates on your progress. They will interview you in conjunction with the CAS Coordinator.

Your CAS Supervisor is the person who supervises one of your CAS experiences and can be any adult who is not a family member. For example, this could be the band director or the coach of a team, or the organizer of a charity you are volunteering with. This is a person with specialized knowledge that can help you learn and grow within the experience you have chosen. They will also check in with you about your progress through the experience, and must sign off on the experience when you are done. ** Be warned that the supervisor may not sign off on the completion of an experience if you cannot prove to them that you have done it. You need to be meeting with them regularly. You should be meeting with them at least once per quarter, and recording evidence of your supervisor meetings.
