By the end of this lesson the learner will be able to describe 3 traits of a good Literature Review
A Literature review is a document or part of a document that discusses a collection of relevant past research on a given topic in order to achieve synthesis on the current knowledge available. A literature review can be a part of a referred journal article or research study to establish the current research done on the subject but, it's overall purpose is to point out areas that needs future investigation, or contribute to a debate.

A coding form is a tool for collecting and storing the articles an author would use when writing a literature review. It stores all relevant information such as:
Article citation
Abstract
Main theory
Article critique,
Purpose of using article
Any other information that the author might need
Not only does this make it easier for an author to quickly find one article out of possibly many but it is also a record that potentially has to be turned in with the literature review.
A good lit review highlights an area in the current research that requires further investigation or contributes to an ongoing debate. Literature reviews should identify that purpose up front. Good literature reviews also evaluate the studies that they are reviewing as well as analyzing their results and sources. Literature reviews can strengthen their argument by using reliable sources and disclosing how they collected them. A good review should present a structured argument that synthesizes the current research as well as adds to it.
