Welcome to an introduction and overview to the “Understanding by Design” technique for developing curriculum. Throughout this workshop, participants will familiarize themselves with the backwards design approach to instructional design. The backward design approach will ensure the “big ideas” of the course are being properly communicated. The “big idea” for this workshop is show instructors how to plan curriculum with purpose so that students will develop deep understandings that are transferable.
My name is Evan Campbell and I am currently a website designer and social media marketing consultant. I received my Bachelors of Science in Organizational Leadership from Wright State and I am currently pursuing my Masters in education. I feel the number of different positions in college including event planner, judiciary committee member, and fraternity council member. When I'm not working or in school I like to enjoy my time watching a good movie or listen to music.
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
Develop the desired results for the unit/course using UbD Stage 1
Determine acceptable evidence to attain desired results using UbD Stage 2
Create learning experiences that align with UbD Stage 1 & 2 using UbD Stage 3
