EDT 8140 - LMS & QM EVALUATION INTRODUCTION
My name is Evan Campbell, VP for Distance Education, and I am making a recommendation for a Learning Management System (LMS) and evaluating Quality Matters (QM).
OVERVIEW:
We have had problems concerning our LMS which have impacted our distance education services. In order to fulfill the organization's need, I have evaluated 2 LMS and give a recommendation on the system we should choose.
At the same time, our student's feedback revealed a large amount of dissatisfaction aimed at the organization. For this reason I will also make recommendation geared toward course quality improvement.
The decision to make the necessary changes to benefit our organization was handled thoughtfully. Thank you for your consideration
I recommend that our institution adopt Canvas as our primary LMS.
Canvas will be a great system to transfer to due to the consistent and intuitive design. This design will increase course efficacy and student satisfaction.
With so many tools accessible from the homepage, faculty will be able quickly construct courses, and students will be able to quickly navigate them.
Integrated drop-boxes and gradebooks expedite both assignment submission and grading for students and teachers respectively.
More of our needs can be met by taking advantage of the numerous third party integrations accessible through Canvas.
Canvas offers a large amount of training material and support within their system, as well as housing a vast library of helpful videos through YouTube.
I recommend that our institution adopt Quality Matters.
Quality Matters ensures a quality course through rigorous review by a team of certified individuals and experts.
Quality matters helps course designers adopt a learner's perspective to make sure course have an intuitive design.
Quality Matters gives an opportunity for courses to undergo both internal and external review.
The organization should pay for the program and have a number of faculty and staff complete it.
All online classes should be reviewed officially for student satisfaction.
