Bought runechalks and need a refresher on what they do? Look no further! We've moved the descriptions here, because people's inventories were getting pretty wordy with the descriptions.
The Basics:
Each runechalk has 20 uses, and take an action to use during combat.
MIDNIGHT BLACK RUNECHALK
Square: Draw it around a lock to get a +5 to sleight of hand rolls to unlock it.
Circle: Stand in it and gain advantage on perception checks.
Triangle: Summon and spread caltrops in a 5ft radius.
X: Draw on your shoes to gain a +3 to stealth checks for 1 hour.
ALABASTER WHITE RUNECHALK
Square: When drawn around a creature that is at 0 HP, it stabilizes them but removes a death save chance.
Circle: When standing in the circle you are granted a 1d4 bonus on a single ability check of your choice.
Triangle: An undead creature who walks over the triangle has to make a DEX saving throw (DC 15) on a failed save they take 1d8+2 radiant damage, on a success they take none. Only one triangle can be active at a time.
X: Erases all information from a single sheet of paper.
CHARMING PINK RUNECHALK
Square: Tune and repair instruments.
Circle: Stand in it and any music you play or vocal sounds you make sound three times as loud.
Triangle: Dramatic lighting fills a 10ft radius and gives a +3 to performance checks.
X: Casts a small display of fireworks when stepped on by any creature.
TERRACOTTA RUNECHALK
Square: Summons a lit bonfire contained within a 5ft square of space, with enough fuel to keep it burning for 1 hour, it disappears unless more fuel is added.
Circle: Summons a small bowl of mac n cheese, offering 1d6 healing.
Triangle: Draw over a hearth, fireplace or on a torch to keep it lit for 1 hour.
X: Draw on a creature to give them fire resistance for 1 hour.
WARM ORANGE RUNECHALK
Square: Turns 1ft cube of material into wood.
Circle: turns 1ft cube of material to solid rock.
Triangle: Turns 1ft cube of material to solid iron.
X: Turns 1ft cube of material to loose earth.
SWAMP GREEN RUNECHALK
Square: A 5ft square becomes coated in a sticky green slime. Any creature stepping on it must make a STR check (DC 9) to break free. Only one square can be active at a time and remains active for 1 hour.
Circle: Coats a weapon or piece of ammunition with acid, which deals 1d4 acid damage on the first strike.
Triangle: Conjures an empty vial.
X: When drawn on a creature, it grants acid resistance for 1 hour.
VINE GREEN RUNECHALK
Skull: Draw on an item to reveal if it's poisonous or toxic.
Flower: Draw on/near a plant to reveal information about it and potential alchemical uses.
Pentagram: Any alchemy or herbology based crafting or skill checks within the symbol are made with advantage.
Berrybush: Conjures 1d4 goodberries that heal 1hp each.
SIMPLE BLUE RUNECHALK
Square: Makes an alarm noise that can be heard within a 20ft radius centered on the symbol.
Circle: Purifies any food or drink placed within the symbol.
Triangle: Mends an item you drew the symbol on.
X: Locks a mechanical lock on a door or chest.
NAVY BLUE RUNECHALK
Square: Casts the Fog Cloud spell, centered on the square, only one square can be active at a time.
Circle: Creates up to a gallon of water in a container.
Triangle: Creates an Arcane Umbrella 10ft above the symbol, it covers a 10ft radius that stays dry from all natural rainfall.
X: Destroys up to a gallon of liquid from a container.
ROYAL PURPLE RUNECHALK
Shield: Draw on a creature to give them +1 to AC for 1 hour.
Hammer: Draw on a creature to give them resistance against blunt damage for 1 hour.
Arrowhead: draw on a creature to give them resistance to piercing damage for 1 hour.
Crescent Moon: Draw on a creature to give them resistance against slashing damage for 1 hour.
