The BST Ophthalmology Training Programme is overseen by the Programme Co-Directors, Programme Advisors, Educational Supervisors and Ophthalmology Training Committee. Together, the committee is responsible for the educational governance, delivery and continued development of the programme.
Mr Mohan Ramalingam
Provides overall leadership for the training programme, including programme governance, curriculum delivery, trainee progression, educational standards and liaison with departmental and institutional training bodies.
Miss Noor Affizan Rahman
Works jointly with the Programme Co-Director in overseeing programme delivery, trainee development, educational quality and the coordination of training activities across the department.
Mr Nayan Joshi
Miss Helena Hurairah
Provide senior educational and professional guidance to the programme. The Programme Advisors support strategic development, trainee progression, complex training matters, programme standards and alignment with wider departmental and postgraduate training requirements.
Dr Ruben Mathew
Dr Nur Nadiah Jeludin
Coordinate the operational aspects of trainee rotations, including rotation scheduling, consultant allocations, induction arrangements and communication between trainees and supervisors. They support the smooth transition of trainees between rotations and help ensure that appropriate training opportunities are available throughout the programme.
Educational Supervisors provide individual oversight of trainee development during the programme. Their responsibilities include:
Regular educational supervision meetings
Review of clinical experience, learning objectives and portfolio development
Monitoring trainee progress and professional development
Providing feedback and career guidance
Identifying areas requiring additional support or development
Contributing to formal trainee assessment and progression reviews
The Ophthalmology Training Committee provides oversight of the training programme and supports:
Trainee progression and assessment
Educational supervision and trainee support
Rotation planning and allocation
Annual review of trainee progress
Recruitment and selection
Programme governance and quality assurance
Curriculum delivery and educational standards
Review of trainee feedback and training experience
Identification of trainees requiring additional support
Faculty development and educational engagement
Continued review and improvement of the training programme
The committee meets periodically to review trainee progression, programme delivery and any educational or governance matters requiring discussion.
