WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE! -Excerpt - written by Gordon Blitz

Tagline: Josh and Kelsey return home from the movies, and then the truth   comes out!  

     INT: SUBURBAN LIVING ROOM-NIGHT

JOSH and KELSEY enter, holding hands, laughing.

JOSH

Can you believe that woman sitting behind us?

KELSEY

The way she was screaming at the screen.

JOSH

Phone home! Phone home!

KELSEY

God, everyone was crying. It broke the mood.

They both giggle.

KELSEY

Can't believe you never saw the film. Thank goodness they had a new print for the 40th Anniversary showing.

JOSH

It’s painful for me to watch these films. That’s why I stay away.

KELSEY

I saw you tearing up. You never cry.

JOSH

Yeah. It kinda' got to me.

They sit down on the couch. Josh suddenly starts sobbing.

KELSEY

What's wrong, babe?

JOSH

It reminded me of something.

KELSEY

It's just a movie.

JOSH

That's what I keep telling myself. Do you know what it’s like to hear a sound that feels like home?

KELSEY

You're acting strange, Josh. What sound are you talking about?

JOSH

They didn't get it right, but it's close enough that my body remembers.

KELSEY

What?

JOSH

I didn’t cry because he left.

    (beat)

I cried because he was able to go back to his home planet.

  KELSEY

Now you're scaring me.

Kelsey gets up from the couch.

JOSH

When he points to the sky? That part isn’t fantasy.

KELSEY

Stop!

jOSH

I wasn’t going to tell you tonight. I wasn’t ever going to tell you. But that movie...

KELSEY

This is a joke, right? This is part of my birthday gift.

JOSH

I wish it were.

Josh rolls up his sleeve and starts to peel his skin back.
