Bio"Pack"athon

The Bio"Pack"athon is a hackathon that aims to implement databases and data analysis methods used in the life science field as a package of various programming languages and release them to the public as open source.

In Bio"Pack"athon, we are working for publishing our own R package on Bioconductor.
(However, some people are trying to publish Julia or Python packages with PyPI or conda-forge. Not only R but Julia and Python are also acceptable.)

Bio"Pack"athon also explain training materials such as http://bioc2020.bioconductor.org/workshops in Japanese to increase the number of new Bioconductor contributors from Japan.

For the moment, our goal is to hold BioC Asia in 2021 in Japan.

The Bio"Pack"athon is held on the second Wednesday every month (from 5pm (JST)) with Zoom or Google Meet .

Bio"Pack"athon（バイオパッカソン）は、生命科学分野で利用されるデータベースや、データ解析手法を、各種プログラミング言語のパッケージとして実装し、オープンソースとして公開することを目的としたハッカソンです。

そのハッカソンで行うこととしては、RのパッケージをBioconductorで公開することを主に想定しています。(Julia、Pythonのパッケージとそれらのパッケージリポジトリ[PyPI, conda-forge]でも構いません。)
またBioPackathonは http://bioc2020.bioconductor.org/workshops などの資料を日本語で説明し、日本から新たなBioconductorへの貢献者を生むことを推し進めます。
さしあたっての目標は
「Bioconductorのpackage authorを増やし、2021年のBioC Asiaを日本で開催すること」
です。

Bio"Pack"athonは毎月第2水曜の夕方5時からZoomを用いて行います。(海外から参加してくださる方がいる場合はGoogle MeetとそのLive Captions機能を用います。)
