Mariya Kalapsazova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng.,
Coordinator of the research team
Mariya Kalapsazova completed her higher education at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy - Sofia, majoring in "Organic Chemical Technologies", module "Cellulose, Paper and Packaging". Later, she started working at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry - BAS, where in 2017 she defended his thesis on "Sodium intercalation oxides as cathode materials for environmentally friendly ion batteries". Since 2019, she has been appointed Assistant Professor in the "Intermetallics and Intercalation Materials" laboratory at the IGIC-BAS. Over the years, Dr. Kalapsazova has specialized in leading world groups in the field of electrochemistry and energy storage materials - the University of Cordoba (Spain), Institute for Applied Materials at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. In 2018, she won a DAAD scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to do a postdoctoral specialization at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (Germany) - one of the most elite research organizations in the field of electrochemical research of energy storage materials. She participates in projects at the Bulgarian National Science Fund and operational programs, and was the head of three projects. Dr. Kalapsazova has a number of awards from conferences, for an excellent project, she is a laureate of the "Prof. Hristo Balarev" for "A prominent young scientist in the field of inorganic chemistry", and in 2021 she was awarded a national scholarship of L'Oréal and UNESCO "For Women in Science".
