Ivan Uzunov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng.,
Senior Researcher
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Uzunov completed his higher education at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia; Department: Technology of Inorganic Materials. He is defending a thesis at IGIC-BAS related to the preparation and characterization of nano-sized non-stoichiometric iron oxides - active materials for Li-ion batteries.
His research areas include 1. Kinetics and Mechanism of Solid Phase Reactions Determined by Thermal Analysis (TG/DTA); 2. Synthesis, properties and reactivity of inorganic dispersed oxide materials; 3. Utilization of renewable bio-waste by turning it into products with added value and applicability in various fields of technology. He was the supervisor of two doctoral students. Assoc. Dr. Eng. Uzunov has specializations at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry - UAS under Prof. Y. Paulik and the Institute of Solid State Physics - CzSAN under Prof. Ya. Shestak. Participated in twelve scientific and practical developments assigned to IGIC-BAS, author and co-author of four patents, two patent applications and one trademark, has six implementations with proven economic effect.
He is the recipient of a number of awards and honors: 1. "Gold Badge" for achievement in youth scientific and technical creativity. The prize is for "METHOD FOR OBTAINING MICROPOROUS SILICA GEL". It was awarded at the 15th national exhibition of THTM, 1989, Plovdiv. 2. "Certificate" for the invention "METHOD FOR OBTAINING ACTIVE ZINC OXIDE", ranked second in the INRA competition at the 46th ITF, 1990, Plovdiv. 3. "Medal of Honor" for the development "METHOD FOR OBTAINING SILICON DIOXIDE WITH A LOW CONTENT OF INORGANIC IMPURITIES FROM RICE FLAKES" in the IV exhibition "INVENTIONS-TECHNOLOGIES-INNOVATIONS" 2012, Sofia. 4. Honorary diploma of the BCCI for second place in the competition for BEST INNOVATIVE PROJECT of the Council for Innovation and Energy Efficiency at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 2014. 5. Certificate of Honor and Badge of Honor "60 years of IONH-BAS" for contribution to the development of the innovative activity of IONH, related to the utilization of natural resources. 6.
