Lyubomir Aleksandrov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng.,
Senior Researcher
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lyubomir Alexandrov completed his higher education at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia, Department of "Silicate Materials". In 2009, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the subject of his dissertation was "Synthesis and structure of amorphous and polycrystalline molybdate phases containing oxides of rare earth elements". His scientific interests are related to the synthesis and structural characterization of amorphous, glass-crystalline and polycrystalline materials with application in the field of optics, optoelectronics, waste immobilization, energy storage and catalysis. Studies the thermal behavior of various amorphous, crystalline and polycrystalline materials using Differential Thermal Analysis and Differential Scanning colorimetry. Dr. Aleksandrov was on 2 post-doctoral specializations at TU - Nagaoka, Japan, where he worked on the synthesis of molybdate and tungstate glasses and glass-ceramics with optical applications. He also completed a 4-month specialization at the Technical University - Vienna, Austria, one month at the University of Jena, Germany and two weeks at the Theoretical Institute of Physical Chemistry, Athens, Greece. He is a co-author of 67 scientific publications, 46 of which are in renowned international journals with an impact factor or impact rank. These publications have been cited more than 250 times. He was the head of two successfully completed scientific projects: Program for young scientists - Project: BG051PO001/3.3-05-0001 "Science and Business"; Research Grants as well as Young Scientist Program at JSPS - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science 2015. He is currently the contact person for IGIC-BAS for the INFRAMAT project. This project is part of Bulgaria's National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science under contracts D01-155/2018, D01-284/2019 and D01-382/2020. In his scientific career, he participated in 8 successfully completed national and international scientific projects. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexandrov was the scientific supervisor of a master's program and a consultant for more than 10 bachelor's and master's theses.
