Molecular Genetics
Welcome to Semester 3 of the "Molecular Genetics" course. This semester is dedicated to exploring the intricate mechanisms of molecular biology, focusing on the central dogma, which encompasses the flow of genetic information within a biological system. The primary objective is to provide you with a thorough understanding of key molecular processes including the structure and function of biomolecules, the processes of DNA replication and transcription, and the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair.
You will delve into the fundamental concepts of biomolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins, nucleotides, and enzymes. We will also examine the detailed mechanisms of DNA replication in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems, explore the process of transcription, and understand the various types of DNA damage and repair mechanisms. By the end of this semester, you will not only gain insights into the molecular basis of genetic information flow but also acquire practical skills in DNA isolation and analysis. This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and techniques essential for advanced studies and research in molecular genetics.
