Armageddon
or the
Great Tribulation

A book full of lessons and warnings for life

In this world of the system of things we have a library of books of which the Book of books, the Bible, is a Bestseller of all times that presents us with a lot of life lessons and warnings for mankind how to build up life and prepare ourselves for times to come and a better future.

In the ancient Hebrew Books of the Bible as well as in the Messianic Scriptures or New Testament, we do find texts which can guide us for constructing our own life and to mould is in a character able to cope with the difficulties of this world and age but also to prepare ourselves for a tribulation which shall bring an end to this age and shall be the 'forebode' of a world to renew and a people to be formed in a thousand year period, before mankind shall be able to live in a grand superior world.

A War of the great day of God the Almighty

In the Bible we find lots of indications that the world one time shall have to face a war bigger than all the previous wars.

From the beginning of times we can find creatures doubting the position of God and people wanting to go against God and against lovers of God. From ancient times onwards there is spoken about kings of the entire inhabited earth who would come to gather to wage war against Jehovah.

The Nazarene master teacher Jesus spoke of an unprecedented “great tribulation” that would come upon Jerusalem and especially of one that would later befall mankind in connection with his future ‘coming with glory.’ In several parables he gave stories to the people so that they could know how important it is to be prepared and not to think it would not happen to them or that they would have more than enough time to make themselves ready. Jesus talks about a war to come greater than all the wars the world saw before.

“ for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be.” (Mt 24:21 ASV)

“29 But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Mt 24:29-31 ASV)

Since the fall of man every human being is confronted with difficulties, pain and sorrow. All people tried to make an easier life. Lots of them were confronted with injustice and looked for justice to come. Believers in God learned from the scrolls or Holy books that the promised one from God, the Messiah shall one day appear out of heaven in a blaze of fire with his strong angels to even up the score by settling accounts with those who gave others such a bad time. The world had to know that this man coming from heaven will be the break the lovers of God have been waiting for, for centuries. When the time has arrived man shall see that those who refuse to know God and refuse to obey the Message shall have to pay for what they’ve done. Man shall come to see the heavens open wide and than they shall come to see the rider on the horse, named Faithful and True, who's eyes shall be a blaze of fire, and carrying on his head many crowns.

That man who is addressed as "Word of God." shall speak with words as sharp as a sword so he can subdue the nations, and then rule them with a rod of iron.

The satans or adversaries of God shall go wild as a ferocious beast and, assembled with him, earth’s kings and their armies, ready to make war against the one on the horse and his army. Those against Jehovah God, like they had done already for several millennia shall make even a greater effort to get people away from the God of gods, Jehovah Host of hosts, the El Shaddai or Stron One. For years many were stricken by Babylon or the Beast and many were his puppet, the false prophet, who could tickle many ears of gullibles. The credulity of many shall now in that time of great tribulation be put a shame. Because then all those being mocked at shall find their faith in the Only One God Who is One, being sealed by the promises of their God.

The time of Great Tribulation shall not be an easy one and many shall find their death in it. Even when birds shall be able to hold a feast on their flesh that Great Battle shall come to an end and at that time nobody shall be able any more to go against the one who shall take up the throne of the tribe of David, promised to Israel, God's People. The King of kings shall come to sit on his throne and reign for ever, over a great crowd” which shall be shown as surviving that tribulation.

“6 if so be that it is righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you, 7 and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire, 8 rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:” (2Th 1:6-8 ASV)

“11 And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself. 13 And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KINGS OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come and be gathered together unto the great supper of God; 18 that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone: 21 and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.” (Re 19:11-21 ASV)

“ After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands;” (Re 7:9 ASV)

“ And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Re 7:14 ASV)

Signal of the start of the great tribulation

Jesus spoke about that terrible time to come, but he also admitted that even he did not know when that time would be coming, because it is only up to God to know so.

But he warned his disciples not to be like certain people from his parables so that they could look out for signs and be ready to run for it when they would see the monster of desecration set up in the Temple sanctuary and when they would see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet.

When nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom and children against their parents, in a world where there shall be more problems about living space, land being taken in by water or becoming inconceivable as a desert, making lots of people not having enough food, and giving pangs of distress.

The good news shall be that there shall be proclaimed the Gospel Message and many people shall find themselves united by that Word of God, giving them support and courage to continue and face the battle, even when they shall be objects of mocking and hatred.

“7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places. 8 But all these things are the beginning of travail. 9 Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. 12 And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. 13 But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.” (Mt 24:7-14 ASV)

Battle of Armageddon an event such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning

With the battle of Armageddon as its climax, that coming great tribulation will be unique, without preceding. But it shall also be the last battle mankind shall have to face, because afterwards shall come the promised time of peace for ever. When it has passed, Christ’s Millennial Rule will begin. What hardships those who love God may face, Jehovah’s people, as a group, will come out of the great tribulation.

“ for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be.” (Mt 24:21 ASV)

At that time, the Word of God preached all over the world, nobody shall have an excuse not to know the set apart or Holy Name of The GOD, the Elohim Hashem Jehovah, the one and only High God on earth and in heaven. He shall take care that His Word shall be preached all over the world, and He’ll make Himself known all over the world. At that time lots of people shall come to realise that He Jehovah is God.

“ That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth.” (Ps 83:18 ASV)

“ And I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.” (Eze 38:23 ASV)

A time coming to judge

In those terrible times perhaps many still shall be tested, having to endure hardships and sometimes getting the impression the satan or adversary of God may win.

Prophecy about the last days reveals that when the Great Tribulation comes to its peak Jesus will come down and for the very first time act as Judge of all nations after the destruction of false religion.

Pestilence, bloodshed, torrential downpour and hailstones, shall be seen and fire and sulfur shall be around whilst Jehovah shall sanctify Himself and make Himself known before the eyes of many nations. The Sovereign Lord Jehovah shall take care that this time all people will have to know that He is Jehovah.

Then the time shall be there that nobody can stop the Son of man who comes with glory and with angels. He shall gather all tribes and nations; those judged as sheep shall be able to “lift [their] heads up” because “everlasting life” awaits them. Those judged as goats “beat themselves in lamentation,” realizing that “everlasting cutting-off” awaits them.

“31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: 32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats; 33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” (Mt 25:31-33 ASV)

“ And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.” (Mt 25:46 ASV)

Concerning a broad way and a narrow gate

When Armageddon or the time of great tribulation comes to an end a new age shall start. By then people shall know they'll not have to look for shortcuts to God.

The market for centuries had been flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practised in a person his spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. Lovers of God and followers of Christ do know the way to life — to God!— is vigorous and requires total attention.

The followers of Christ were commissioned to announce in public that Jesus is in fact the one whom God destined as judge of the living and dead. Then shall be the moment that Jesus will allow the righteous to enter the small gate.

“ And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and the dead.” (Ac 10:42 ASV)

“13 Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. 14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.” (Mt 7:13-14 ASV)

To be sure, people may now display a sheeplike or a goatlike disposition. Nevertheless, we should remember that the final judgment of who are sheep and who are goats is during the great tribulation. Therefore, we have good reason for continuing to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to listen to and respond to the Kingdom message.

An end to the Old World

With Armageddon there shall come an end to the old world.

For ages man had known the dying condition that was attached to mankind because of the sin of their first human father Adam in Eden. That death has now been undone, by Jesus giving himself as a ransom for all. He destroyed the curse of death, just as if hurled into the “lake of fire” to its own death. But many did not want to know about it or even went admiring Jesus as their god instead of worshipping the God of Jesus.

After Jesus has judged the living and the dead, those not having been found righteous shall be destroyed, undergoing the second death. Others not yet fully in all understanding of the Biblical Truth, but willing to go for God, are given a chance to learn more about the Truth. Also those born in that New World starting of with a thousand year period shall receive the opportunity to learn about God and His Laws.

The grand consummation when, after crushing the opposition, Jesus shall take his seat in Jerusalem, the capital of the restored Land of Israel. For a thousand years he shall reign and with his saints shall give instruction to all so that they all shall be able to grow and transform into righteous people without faults.

Throughout the Millennium, people shall come to see and understand how the knowledge of God forms them and how His Word gives the power to change. All receiving more knowledge of God shall come to see a wonderful miracle taking place. All sin will be removed and mankind will be raised to perfection whilst in nature there also shall come a calmness, all animals coming to live peacefully together. (See Paradise for lovers of God.)

After that interim period Jesus shall hand over his kingdom to God the Father. He won’t let up until the last enemy of God is down and the very last enemy is death! When everything and everyone is finally under God’s rule, the Son will step down, taking his place with everyone else, showing that God’s rule is absolutely comprehensive — a perfect ending!

“24 Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death. 27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him. 28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.” (1Co 15:24-28 ASV)

Open heavens and peaceful earth

After those thousand years, the Millennium, all people shall know Jehovah God and honour Him as the Only One True God. There only shall exist people who want to be faithful children of God.

Those righteous shall be allowed in God's Kingdom where they shall be able to live for ever never having to worry about anything.
