With the exception of the skills you can AFK macro, these building blocks represent an immense amount of gameplay time.
Growing your character is fun, but if you find out you misused a bunch of time, it can be incredibly frustrating. For that reason, you should place a high priority on unlocking the base of each category because you cannot begin to level a codex or an aspect until you have one.
Because of how much time it takes to max-level a codex or an aspect, every experience point you earn without all of your progression systems (except your mastery chain) unlocked is a potential experience point wasted.
This is my recommended progression order (special thanks to aPrimate for this formatting):
(Stat) cost: 0 – max your skills with afk macroing.
(ASAP) cost: under 50k – unlock your first aspect.
(ASAP) cost: under 100k – acquire the codices relevant to your build.
(Not Priority) cost: under 150k – acquire a mastery chain.
(Not Priority) cost: approx. 1 million – activate your first echo when your main is high level in all of the previous stages.
My reasoning for this progression order is that AFK macroing is nearly free and is time-efficient. Codices are expensive to purchase, but once you own one, every experience point you gain applies to your codex progression and there are no additional costs for improving codex ranks.
Unlike a codex, aspects get progressively more expensive, and your aspect stops gaining experience when you max a tier. That means if you gain enough experience to reach the next tier but can’t afford it, your aspect stops progressing. This isn’t a disaster if it happens to you for a short time, but at least if you have a codex your character is still getting more powerful while you farm the gold you need for the next aspect tier.
The combination of your codices and your aspect will accelerate your ability to gain experience and gold, making it easier to afford your next aspect tiers and to get the gold you need to buy a mastery chain. You should still try to get your strongbox and mastery chain as soon as possible, but it’s okay if you have to wait a few aspect tiers to have the gold.
I hope this makes your journey on Outlands more fun!
