A very typical stretch involving about 500 metres of core route and 2 spurs spread over four fields. It's all been fairly thoroughly planned already but just a few final stages before you start the job
This spur is fairly simple. Liaise with owner who is willing to dig the first bit himself. Long conversation explaining how he organises his internal house network leading on to the best line for him to dig. Lay out some duct for him. Promise to return from time to time. (Make sure you do) Bottom section walked - looks okay.
This field has a set of gullies around that track bend that look impossible for a moleplough. A better route is in the next field skirting them. Check with farmer that this revision is okay with him.
It gets very rough round the house, with gullies again. Owner does not want a connection, so agree with him that we can leave an end 10 metres from his boundary. If, one day he wants a connection, we will figure it out then.
Chamber to locate. Discuss with farmer the possible places it might go. Try to get maximum flexibility in case it has to be relocated on the day because of rock, whatever.
BT cable to find. Dig down to find it at the point we would like to cross it. Check the BT route to check that their map is accurate.
Farm track to cross. It has one obvious place, where the concrete has been very broken up already. The reason it is broken is because that's where the farmers water pipe crosses. Dig down either side of the track so we know exactly where the pipe is, and how deep. Careful digger work needed on the day.
Simple wall crossing. Prepare.
Farmer has requested we go round the edges of his field as much as possible. Question him carefully on this to see what he actually means in real terms. (This one can catch you out. We had to move a chamber 2 metres because it wasn't "in the corner")
Wall/Ditch/Track/Ditch/Fence crossing. Not that complicated, but, as with the other track crossing will have to organise the dig so that the track is blocked for traffic for the minimum time. By now you have befriended everyone involved, so you have to be there on the day to smooth over any problems. You will be the one dishing out cake, not them.
Simple wall crossing. Prepare
According to the owner there is a drain under here. Can't locate it. Hope it is deep, be careful on the day. Have apologies ready.
