It is unlikely you will get the chance to do this, but it's fun.........
A proper river is maybe a job where you have to call B4RN in to advise. But there is no reason why you shouldn't come up with your own solution. At least it might provide them with some suggestions, they are not hydrology experts. Re-routing should be your first line of thought. Directional drilling is one option, which has its own page - you drill completely under the river and come up the other side.
Note that there may be the odd regulation about interfering with watercourses. Note that there may be the odd regulation about absolutely anything you do. Note that B4RN was founded on the JFDI approach. But also note that have some responsibility to society and the planet.
A road crossing at the same time as a river crossing
This had to be above the reach of Hereford cows
A tasteful crossing of the road and the river in a beautiful curve.
A similar example but here there are girders which we can use to hammer on some pipe clips
Overlapping scaffold pole sections in the upstream pocket of heavy-duty building blocks. Alkathene pipe in downstream pocket encasing a single 16 mm orange duct.. All buried over a foot down in the river bed. At a point we have chosen carefully where the river flattens a little, and we have observed it in various states of flood.
Another one from our earlier days. All decisions made by other people....
This is Church Bridge, Dent
This cut into the tarmac cost £20,000 to put duct inside it. A mile upstream the river has a cobbled bottom - the whole curved riverbed has cobbles that could be lifted out and a pipe laid inside the river. It dries up several times a year
