#FTheStigma is a flagship project that highlights the state of mental health in the Philippines and the ongoing battle of the social stigma against mental health. Alongside the event is a fundraiser whose proceeds will be going to our partner communities this year.
Last year, #FTheStigma consisted of a three-part webinar series featuring professionals in the field, who talked about topics such as the context, state, and complexities of mental health, a raffle for the audiences of the webinar series, and a fundraiser by selling handmade products from our own beneficiary, L’Arche Philippines: ng Arko ng Pilipinas.
Check out the recording of the event here from the previous academic year.
Stay tuned for this academic year's #FTheStigma!
"Personally, handling #FTheStigma2021 wasn't an easy ride for me. Thankfully I was paired to work with the most cooperative and amazing group of people who allowed this entire project to come into fruition. For me, this project - #FTheStigma comes during a really sensitive time and its relevance as a mental health awareness campaign was something I personally wanted to bank on. This entire situation that we're in and the growing mental health crisis cases in the country only alerted us of the importance of doing this project now. We had numerous initiatives going that really tried to build up on that advocacy, and I really am thankful that I was partnered up with my co-project head Rishi Lacson who really helped build this project with me from the very start.
Despite all the setbacks and the difficulties that we encountered along the way, #FTheStigma2021 was launched and seeing the many people who have been reached by the project was really moving. At the end of the day, I have to credit and give my full thanks to the PMT who made this all possible. Despite it being such a difficult year and having to do all of this online, they all still chose to work and give their best and make all our initial ideas come into reality. As project head, I couldn't be more grateful for what they've done - as they've definitely set the bar much higher for the future #FTS events to follow."
