“Being an AVP in ComDev really helped set things apart for me while in Psyche. The org wasn't just a home anymore, it was a place where I actually felt like what I was learning mattered and what I was doing made a difference. It made me feel like I had actual autonomy in places I once thought were hard to reach. Mental health now has such a deeper meaning to me because I've seen different spectrums of it. I've learned and I've grown so much in the span of a year by helping and being around the kuyas of NCMH and Estrellas, and I feel like just having that experience gave me an "edge" when understanding more of my major classes. It's because this time, the definitions weren't textbook anymore, they had names and faces and I now had proof to believe that the application and the acquisition of psychological knowledge actually made a difference.”
