Digital Object Identifiers (DOI)

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI or doi) creates a permanent link for an item.

All trusted scholarly journals assign unique DOIs to individual published journal articles, and register the DOIs with Crossref, which is an official Digital Object Identifier Registration Agency.

Article DOIs are increasingly used by researchers to cite/reference articles published in journals.

Examples of a DOIs:

A journal can choose to use its own DOI membership or in the case of SciELO SA journals they can use the ASSAf DOI-prefix (10.17159).
