Pre-University Programmes
Most of the universities run summer holiday programmes just before your semester begins - the purpose of these are to help you to settle into university life.
Kickstart 101Hands-On at Otago - a summer holiday programme for Year 12 students going into year 13 and thinking about studying Science, Humanities, Business or Health Sciences - to experience what life at university is like. Scholarships are also offered to help you get to Otago. Usually applications are in September.
The Ambition Programme
The Ambition programme is a fully funded scholarship that provides an amazing opportunity for Year 12 Pasifika students to sample living and learning at the University of Otago.
Students will explore the Otago campus and the student city of Dunedin. They will attend interactive workshops from our four divisions – Health Sciences, Business, Humanities, and Sciences, as well as meet academic staff and students. They will experience life in a residential college and meet the staff who provide great support for Pasifika students when they come to Otago.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are currently in Year 12 at a New Zealand secondary school, are of Pasifika descent, and you have acquired NCEA L1 with merit endorsement (or an equivalent for CIE and IB students).
