12 July - Spotless Housing New Zealand Cadetship School Holiday Programme (Mangere Housing New Zealand Cadetship Programme).

ASDAH was invited to join this programme in 2019. This involves students working on various Housing New Zealand sites in Mangere in conjunction with PBCM Spotless, a construction company that employs approx. 45 subcontractors in different trades. Students have the opportunity to have work experience in a trade of their choice or experience a variety of different trades. ASDAH is one of four local high schools chosen for the programme.

1st June - MITO Bus Trip

Never has a trip been more popular! MITO gave us six seats on the tour – we have 8 students doing the MITO programme and several others who have shown an interest in automotive engineering as a pathway. Competition was stiff and the first six to get their forms in were going. The boys had a fabulous day. Other South Auckland schools were also on the tour.

First stop was Giltrap Prestige in New North Road, followed by visits to McLaren and Tesla. Lunch was in the domain and then it was off to Colin Waite Ltd (Collision Repair) in Kingsland and our last port of call was TerraCat in Manukau. A fabulous day indeed!

May 26th - MBIE Construction Careers Day

Asdah students were invited to MBIE’s pilot Careers Construction Day. Students spent the day at MBIE in Manukau where they were introduced to a variety of trades and heard men and women talk about the trades they were involved in. They also visited MIT’s new TechPark
